Business Roundtable is an Association of Chief Executive Officers from America’s leading companies, working to promote a thriving U.S. Economy, and expanded opportunity for all Americans through sound public policy. The Roundtable hired Perkins+Will to bring their vision of their offices to life. May Construction and Gaithersburg Architectural Millwork were brought together to collaborate on this challenging space. Perkins+Will’s design required the marriage of many natural and synthetic products along with electrical expertise to illuminate panels on the reception desk, walls, and various areas within the space.
One of the most challenging obstacles in this build was the radiused lacquered panels and the radiused lacquered reception desk. Being that the panels on both items were radiused made the lettering layout difficult and to complicate things even further there was color changing illumination within panels which accented the lettering that rested behind radiused acrylic attached to the panels. The lighting summoned detailed coordination between the electrical vendor and Gaithersburg Architectural Millwork as well as the precise components within the millwork to make sure the lighting was illuminating evenly. In the end the space was sleek and clean while touches of light in unexpected places brought the space to life.
